You get what you pay for most of the time.
Not sure what it all means but I'm with AT&T who seem to have the slowest internet speeds in the country.

Here's my speeds and not sure what they mean. I'm very un-technical:

Ping------32 MS
Down Load.- 6.68 Mbps
Up Load - 0.74 Mbps

The last company I was with, Cox Cable said my speed was 47.5 whatever that means, Ping, I suppose. How does that compare, Slapsy?

No phone number required terra. All that's needed is a trip to your nearest Telstra Shop, kick up a fuss, and they cant get a phone into your hand quick enough, direct to a nice person somewhere in Australia. Either that,or they call the police.

Thanks mate !....
I'll give that a go when my telstra mobile next has a problem......
and tell them that Slapsy sent me !

Guaranteed to work terra, but get ready to run if they pick up their phone and dial 000. :eek :eek

Seriously though,I am only a short drive from the Telstra Shop, and if my phone is not working, and I can't fix it myself,it makes sense to use their phone.

Hawkeye,I just did a speed test :

Ping : 6ms
Download : 23.49mbps
Upload : 4.61mbps

My service is consistently at those speeds, and is good enough for everything I want to do.

If iiNet sold you a service you're not receiving, they are in breach of contract. From the ACCC:
The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) requires businesses to provide consumer guarantees for most consumer goods and services they sell.

Businesses that sell goods guarantee that those goods:

are of acceptable quality - the goods must be safe, lasting, have no faults, look acceptable and do all the things someone would normally expect them to do
are fit for any purpose that the consumer made known to the business before buying (either expressly or by implication), or the purpose for which the business said it would be fit for
have been accurately described
match any sample or demonstration model
satisfy any express warranty
have a clear title, unless you otherwise advise the consumer before the sale
come with undisturbed possession, so no one has the right to take the goods away from or to prevent the consumer from using them
are free from any hidden securities or charges
have spare parts and repair facilities reasonably available for a reasonable period of time, unless the consumer is advised otherwise.

Don't pay it big dad !
Get on the blower to Westnet and demand reimbursement for services NOT received during your outage.
I've done it with them in the past and it works !

Terra: The phone went off the next day & finally a technician turned up at the front door, from telstra & he was great. He spent two hours
putting in a new line from the terminal down the street to my house. He was great. Then he said "here's my phone number if it fails within the next month just call me on this number & I'll be out the same day." =D=

I am not sticking up for any of these telco's but, being the cynic that I am, my suspicions are aroused. Telstra still owns all of the copper wire infrastructure and I wonder how often it is actually Telstra causing the problems but leaving the other client telco's to take the balme? Telstra seems to be doing little to improve its own reputation so maybe they are just trying to drag others down to their perceived level? :yeah_right

I have had a number of fee reductions from Telstra. One particular month I was able to have the whole monthly fee cancelled, but it won't happen unless you complain strongly, and often.
