is nothing sacred ?.. even Jockey's bums ?

:hhuuuhhhh
Yes, I despise the onslaught of obnoxious, intrusive advertising in any form.
Footballers have every blank space on their clothing absolutely chock-a-block crammed with ads.
The football field has the same bloody advertising on any vacant surface.
The moving electronic advertising on the side fences is distracting and an insult to my intelligence.
The bloody goal posts have advertising, the grassy pitch has advertising, the soles of footy boots have advertising.
....and now, Jockey's bums are considered fair game !

Yes, it irritates me, though I don't watch it! What I find hard to digest is the notion that advertisers' interests take precedence over everyone else's. I'm reminded of those events sponsored by one credit card company that prevent you from using a rival company's card to buy tickets.

As I'm sure you'll remember, years ago advertising was restricted to billboards and newspapers and the sides of delivery vans and buses. Now every overpass is plastered with adverts that distract drivers. I've even seen an article about a bloke who offered the back of his shaved head for advertising.

I use ad blockers on the internet, including Facebook. I see far fewer ads online than before as a result.

I'm with you Perry :character-oldtimer: ...
I have every known adblocker available and still searching each day for a better one. :heeheehee
I don't watch commercial TV or listen to commercial radio, I don't watch footie, cricket, or horse racing..... and I despise gambling with a vengeance !
....apart from that, I'm just a normal bloke !

I don't know how anyone can watch commercial TV and I avoid it completely.

Considering what the sponsorship money is being used for, what is wrong with it?

Their contributions to a fund insuring against career-ending injuries will be matched by the advertiser.

Not quite without strings, but getting there. I don't find it, in particular, is more offensive than the whole proliferation of advertising!

Geez.... I hate to steal Bucks words,
.....but, call me mulder....somehow I just don't believe that all of those squillions of dollars are going into any fund. :character-oldtimer:

If there are any jeenyarses here with their finger on the pulse.... how about publishing right here (with credibility) just what the advertising mongrels are raking in and what percentage of that goes to any fund ?

Seems they are only matching the jockeys' contributions, so would keep varying?

Thanks DW.... :oops
a bit of misunderstanding on my part. I was assuming that ALL advertising revenue regardless of the particular business or company that they're flogging, contributed to a welfare fund.
