Elephas

Post by mavisbramston » 22 Oct 2016, 12:50

Today I was chatting to a friend . I admire him very muchbut intellectually way above me. I confess today he dropped a name I had never heard of. Before I go to google land... has anyone else heard of Elephas Levi?
He said I would find him fascinating.

Nah, total stranger to me.
Is he a brother of Levi Strauss?

IMHO, name-droppers are a curious group of people.
I don't believe anything until it can be verified by strong evidence!

How refreshing . In many sites the mere mention of sexuality sends people into a frenzyof contrived moralistic outrage.

"The Ritual of Transcendental Magic," by Eliphas Levi, shows his interest in the connection between science and the occult. He devised tarot cards to mainly his own design..

 Perry, you know my interest. Tarot and what is commonly called the occult is not part of it. Only a recognition that we haven't discovered everything yet!

I am a skeptic. Hath not a skeptic eyes? Hath not a skeptic hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions; fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer as an occultist is? If you prick us, do we not bleed?
