Have you run the Troubleshooter? In the search box of the Start menu, type "Troubleshooter". If it doesn't show, go here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/ins ... bleshooter to download it from Microsoft.
Tried that Something is missing or corrupt Can't remember what ??

Retry Windows Update (enter the phrase in Search). When the error message appears, write it down so that I can help you get round the problem.

Your computer tech is wrong. You should always keep your system up-to-date. If you use the Internet for anything, you're at risk. That Windows Update problem has to be fixed.

There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070422)

Searched Google and Reimage Repair program was recommended
Downloaded it and it scanned my computer with all these errors. Hit repair button to be greeted by how I would like to pay my subscription
Lot of recommendations so I paid
Repaired my files but no go with Win Update
Oh well have it for 12 months Might come in handy ??
No good asking my tech for help as he says I don't need it

Might try in safe mode Won't hurt Or as someone on your link said to boot it 3 times in concession

Only use it mainly for Facebook and EBay

I wouldn't have done that. In fact, you should never buy a program on that basis without researching if it's effective or just a scam. The kind of problem you have is too specific to be addressed by these "fixer" programs. That Update issue has only been reported recently. (I had the problem myself on my main Windows 8.1 machine.)
