Uploading Images to the forum

Post by godfather » 02 May 2017, 20:02
The following string of posts was previously shown in OPEN ALL HOURS under the title PERRY.
Since the title is not really appropriate for the discussions regarding the uploading of IMAGES,
we have taken the steps to relocate this string to a more recognisable home here in the Technological Corner.

I just hope that I don't stuff up and lose the very informative discussion! Keeping fingers crossed!

I have wondered about that myself.

Bloody hell grandduke.... you're a Diamond member, you've been here for a zillion years ! .... and ya don't know how to post pics ?

C'mon.... grab some moonshine, head down to Bucks place, (the master of photographs), drink some rocket fuel together and learn the fine art of photo craft.

Me ?... I just use tinypic. http://tinypic.com/

Your photos need to be uploaded to a 'photo host', - a web site that stores your pictures.
Then you can 'share' them on sites like silver peers.
it's a 'copy and paste' technique, - you copy the web address of the photo, -often called 'share'
then here at silver peers click on the photo icon, paste in that photo link.
test using the 'preview' button on the bottom of the screen before clicking 'submit'

10 photo hosts you can check out:

(I don't use any of them, - i have my own website.)

There is a catch: maximum picture size
The maximum picture size you can share here is 800 x 600 pixels
any larger and you will get an error message.
so if you have a larger picture than that it needs to 'resized' down to those dimensions.
and that is a whole other lesson.

Buck, I recently increased the sizes to 1000h * 800w, as I wanted to post a large image from a news site.

Everyone, you can post images from other sites as follows:

1. Right-click on the image.
2. Depending on the browser, click Copy Image Address (or Location).
3. In your post, select the Image icon(to the right of the Asterisk icon) and press Ctrl-V to paste the address inside the img tags, e.g.

Code: Select all

[img]http://www.abc.net.au/news/image/8402826-3x2-700x467.jpg[/img]
4. Preview the post to see if the image appears. If it's too big, you'll see an error message.
5. Finish your post.

These days are a lot easier Ted. A mate is now the manager, and I do not get asked for identification. Back in our younger days we hid in the beer garden out the back.
