Dukey, it's like riding a bike, you will fall off a few times at first, then you 'get it' and it seem easy.
are you ready for storm season? could be something coming this weekend?

Good link GD to the new government web site, which as usual comes once the horse has bolted.
Hope Perry can move the thread to COMPUTERS etc and make it a STICKY!

the biggest threat as i see it is email. :character-oldtimer: :character-oldtimer: :character-oldtimer:
Just a single click on the wrong email and you are dead meat.
my friends ransomware was in an email from 'Australia Post', -she had been expecting a delivery.
Bogus emails can appear to be from a friend/acquaintance or business you have dealings with.
Trust nuffin. no one .ever.

Very true Buck, just one click and they've got you.

Be careful, because there are several other ways you can collect a virus or some ransomeware.
Stay away from dubious web sites, and don't download any programs from an unauthorised web site.
Find the original writer of the program via Google and only download from the ORIGINAL web site.

Several Anti Virus sites have plenty of clones on the net, all wanting your money the easy way.
The clones look identical to the original but only the original is the one you need!

Just a little warning:
If you are a Facebook, Twitter or any social media fan then please be extra careful because they are the main targets for future security breaches.
Microsoft has re-started patching XP so don't panic if you are still using it. However, MS can only do so much and consequently you must look at a good commercial Anti Virus and/or Anti Malware program. They are not expensive when compared against the damages a virus can do.

Also, keep updating all your programs frequently and backup at least once a week!

As Buck has said, don't trust everybody!

If you use Facebook, switch off Apps. That's a particularly vulnerable area for exploitation. I've known a number of people get trapped.
