Best cheap mobile plan !

Post by terra » 16 Sep 2017, 19:26

After paying through the nose for many years to Telstra, pre-paid..... and then the bastards take my credit of $110 because I didn't top-up my credit whilst in the six month expiry period, I've just dumped them and found the best deal going.
....a little Aussie Telco known as Southern Phone, based at Moruya NSW.
They are backed and owned by local shires and councils in NSW, therefore resulting in low prices.
Best of all, you get to speak to a dinkum Aussie if you phone them.
My "super" plan is, $15 per month..... which is reduced to $10 per month if you opt for direct debit payment.
For this you get unlimited calls and texts, and 1.5 GB data.

I have been just about tearing my hair out, because Optus cut off my 2G prepaid phone, and kept the $4o credit. I then went and bought another Optus prepaid smartphone. BIG MISTAKE!
I could hardly read the instructions as they were so small. So I blew them up on the printer. It was still hard to see the icons properly, and the instructions were NOT very clear anyhow.
I found it impossible to use the damned thing. Then I found that after having only mad 3 calls to see if I could do so. it used up $25 out of the $30 I had paid in.
On investigating further I found this complaint from a user. They were charging me to use the blasted aps. on the phone. :flaming_mad

The question is.... where do I go from here??????
I have spent $129 for the phone, $30 for the charger and sim card, $15 for the memory card.
It's all wasted if I give them[Optus} the flick, then I have to buy another phone !!!! :flaming_mad

Trisha, every phone company charges for any data consumed by running apps.
I have turned off 95% of my Samsung S7 apps because they are either useless or consume mountains of data allowances.

The Ombudsman cannot help you with apps data, that is under your control.
They can help you if Optus take unearned money from your account.

Good luck!
