UNABLE TO LOG IN?

Post by Perrorist » 13 Dec 2017, 09:31

Some of us (yes, me included) are having problems logging in. In my case, it is only in Chrome. Other browsers seem fine.

Please email me at list@perisys.com if you are having problems and tell me the browser you're using. Thanks.

It’s a Chrome cookie issue. If you use Chrome as your main browser and don’t want to delete* all your cookies, then the workaround is to use the absolute address: www.silverpeers.perisys.com.

UPDATE 1: I've just been told that the absolute address didn't allow posting. I don't know if this is an individual or
a general problem.

UPDATE 2: Clearing all cookies won't solve the problem, either. Further investigation is needed.

It seems the only workable solution at the moment for those who have this problem is not to use Chrome for Silver Peers until I've finally nutted out the issue. Standard issue Internet Explorer or Firefox, if you have it installed, work fine.

I made it here with Firefox Quantum v 57.0.2 (64bit) and also with AVAST SAFE ZONE browsers.

Great improvement so far!

:text-thankyou: :text-thankyou: :text-thankyou:

Ps: ADD IE 11 to that list too.

It's definitely a Chrome cookies issue. Chrome seems to have its own way of handling them. BTW, the problem arose because of how Uber added SP to my account. That changed once I took control on this new server and made it a subdomain like all my other sites. I'll have a go at fixing it eventually. It'll have to be a quiet time, though, as I don't want to lock anyone out.

(See my earlier post) if you have Chrome problems, use Internet Explorer or another browser for the time being. Thanks.

I'm finally back too, thanks to Perry. Even Firefox wouldn't let me in. Interesting that Firefox warned me that my password would be insecure unless the address had http before it! Anyway Chrome is working well so I don't have to retrain anything. :icon_biggrin:
