$US400 million for a da vinci painting auctioned at christies today.
sold by a russian.
abc website says $US450 million i thought the bidding stop at 400.

It's just an investment for the buyer, to be locked away with their other acquisitions until it's time to liquidate it.

The bid was $US400 million. Auction fees $50 million.
UK has VAT dunnit? wonder if that was included?

According to the Guardian, it sold for US$450 million, which is nearly 600m in Aussie dollars.

The ABC showed it live, the winning bid was $US400 million.
The extra 50 mill was fees, but i was wondering wether it would be subject to VAT (aka GST)
Just wanted to make sure the 1% paid their fair share of tax..... :lol: :lol: :lol:
