Truth doesn't matter any more?

Post by Warrigal » 14 Dec 2017, 06:48

I would have expected better from this Prime Minister but he is so hell bent on discrediting Kristine Kenneally that he is apparently slandering her in his effort to associate her with Eddie Obeid.

I post this without checking but I reckon this fellow is sure of his facts. I found it on Twitter.
Peter van Onselen‏

PM said @KKeneally appointed Obeid to her cabinet as one of her 1st picks. Not that facts seem to matter these days, but that's DEAD WRONG. Obeid was last in cabinet in 2003, well before KK became Premier. I thought MBT knew Labor history given he once wanted to run for them...

No mention of her testifying against Obeid at the RC.

Something else that is underhanded is going on.
Against the backdrop of a tight race, both parties have engaged in a tit-for-tat of name-calling, claim and counterclaim in the campaign’s final week.

Mr Turnbull also dodged a question about the Liberal Party’s decision to purchase a web domain, kristinakeneally.com, to smear Ms Keneally over her past links to the corrupt former Labor powerbrokers Joe Tripodi and Eddie Obeid.
Dirty pool, to say the least, a fake website in the name of your opponent set up to deceive the voters.

The website is an escalation of the Liberals’ aggressive campaign against Labor’s star candidate after last week distributing anti-Labor ‘scratchies’ to appeal to the electorate’s large Chinese community. Labor complained to the AEC about the tactic.

Asked if the Liberals’ attack website was “fair campaigning”, Mr Turnbull instead tore into Ms Keneally by claiming that Obeid “put Kristina Keneally in as Premier” and that she then put him in cabinet.

“Her two first picks for cabinet, Obeid and [Ian] MacDonald, are now in jail,” he said. “That is a very relevant fact about her political career.”

Mr Turnbull repeated the claim on multiple occasions, but Obeid in fact last served in the New South Wales cabinet in 2003, well before Ms Keneally became premier in 2009. MacDonald was returned to cabinet under Ms Keneally.

yes, he's over doing the rhetoric, trying too hard to discredit labor.
Voters will see thru that, but i still think it will be hard for labor to win that seat.

i agree that what is happening is not a good look for Malcolm.
I also expect John Alexander to win but it all depends on the Chinese vote.
They are feeling uneasy but they are usually pragmatic about which side their bread is buttered.
I suspect their natural choice is the Liberal Party.

If you google kristinakeneally.com the browser keeps prompting you to kristinakeneally.com.au which is KK's actual website.
If you follow this link http://www.kristinakeneally.com/ you can see the Liberal Party fake page. The material on the website is pretty standard for election campaigns but what I object to is using her name in the URL. It is underhanded IMO.

Politics aside, I would much prefer the healthy and vigorous young woman to the obviously tired old man who is just warming a seat. Parliament is in need to renewal and this is a good chance to elect a woman who will make a difference.

I still miss Jenny Macklin and Nicola Roxon. I do not miss Bronwyn Bishop.

My wife went to a tennis camp run by John Alexander and she came away saying he was a nasty piece of work.

Well, it seems all over and KK has conceded the Bennelong By-elections.
It is a shame but then who am I to make such a judgement?

Unlike other by-elections, the sitting member was defending his seat, making the contest more comparable with a general election, so while Alexander retained his seat, he did so with a reduced majority, and this is still a worry for Turnbull. Translated across the rest of the country, the swing (I believe it's around 5%) would be enough for Labor to have a reasonable majority in the HoR. However, there's still plenty of time for a turnaround in fortunes before the next election.

Did anyone see Morrison and Cormann gloating over their achievements
yet labor gave an entirely different version so who are the liers hear my
take is Morrison and Cormann, these are desperate men and the sooner we
get rid of this mob the sooner we can get down to running the country.

Morrison and Corman. What a pair of muppets! Talk about smug

But I think the Oscar must go to dear old Malcolm for his depiction of overjoyousness at the returning of Barnaby and Alexander. That pink cheeked bright eyed joy (relief)....not once, but twice......deserves some kind of recognition surely.

Maybe his victory in the SSM fiasco has gone to his head. Maybe Malc has ideas of coming out.

I'm probably on a watch list now.......... :icon-mrgreen:
