Pauline's amendment

Post by Dreamweaver » 19 Apr 2018, 18:43

Do you support Pauline Hanson’s proposed amendment to the Australian Citizenship Legislation Bill?
The Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee is inquiring into the above bill. In addition to accepting substantive submissions to this inquiry, the committee has developed this survey to allow members of the public to express their view on the bill. The survey will close at 5pm, 27 April 2018 AEST.

So now we have legislation by popular vote according to an online survey?
Let the Parliament do its work and pass or reject the proposal on its merit, or lack of it.
If you don't have an ASIO file by now then you should be ashamed of yourself.

Nevertheless, I've given my opinion.

If they are going to think these submissions have any validity, it scares me. I'm putting my little word in too.

I have also expressed my opinion. Having had some experience in this area (married to a Thai) I think the citizenship test should be EASIER. These people come to Australia and must learn the language (VERY difficult for older people), our customs, culture, laws etc. They have come here in the main to make a new life but face considerable and numerous difficulties - we should not be making things even harder for them. For people migrating from an english speaking country, sure - make it as tough as you like, but for the others, show a bit of compassion.
