Too soon to say, but I doubt it will be much different in the long run to other marriages.

The sooner the government legalises gay marriage, Legally it will be better for all.
They will have the same rights as Hetrosexual people to marry or to stay in a DE Facto relationship! :bear_hug

I can say that in Denmark there have been no problems at all. I believe it can do much good. A huge proportion of youth suicides are gay. A more tolerant accepting society will help. I never thought I would end up talking so much on this issue. If you have a child who is gay things change. My son is happy and in love. For him marriage was very important.

Abbott is a dead set scumbag. He has often spoken out loudly AGAINST marriage equality and was on the news this morning carping on about how the Australian people should "have a say" about the issue. We have a long history of referenda, plebiscites etc failing to get up, so I just see this as another ploy on his part to defeat the move to equality.

It's no wonder the electorate gets pissed off with politicians. Rather than do something obvious and simple, they complicate the issue (at our expense, as a rule) because they're unwilling to act rationally. Just consider the NBN, the refugees stranded without hope on Manus, the energy crisis, etc. These are problems of their own making, no-one else's, and the cost runs into billions of dollars.

But that can't be, they are always telling us how bad things
are, how we can't afford this or that.

But there is a solution and it's called memory, all one has to do is
remember what these lying creeps said last week or last month.

Another road-block from the right wings of the LP lead by the ultra religious *ankers, i.e. Abbott, Cormann, Abetz etc.
Back to square ONE and forget about an early solution for the gay people.

We are all getting so tired of this. Gay people I know get very hurt by the nasty rhetoric of the red necks.
We know a charming young boy who took his life because of the cruel bullying.
Equality wont change the world but it will help.

Mavis, you are probably wondering why I have changed my opinion. I have spoken to my local federal member, who has done his own polling in the electorate, and found that a majority have no problems with him voting in favour. If all politicians did something similar, then there would be no need for this expensive opinion poll,no matter which version is used.
I believe that either form of plebiscite should be boycotted. Send these lazy politicians a message to get off their backsides, and do their bloody jobs. Mine has,so what's wrong with the rest of them.
