Petrol prices.

Post by grandduke » 01 Sep 2017, 20:22

So how much are you paying.?
http://thenewdaily.com.au/news/national ... ance-accc/

I find this of particular interest. snippet. “Of the price paid at the bowser, 42 per cent is the international price of refined petrol. Another 42 per cent is taxes —GST and excise.”
So we pay $1,25,00 a litre whats 84% of that.??

Buck....
part of your fuel tax goes to roads.
Part of your car rego goes to roads.Part of GST payed by you on various goods goes to roads.

Why in hell do we have to road tolls as well ?

looks like a big win, win for the government.

Same as my aged pension.... I left school at the age of 15 and worked full time continuously for 45 years paying income taxes.... 49 cents in the dollar when working overtime.
Yep !.... that entitles me to be a blood sucking pensioner !

42% of $1.25 = $0.525 x 2 = 84% = $1.05 = 20cents margin for retailers!

Lots of profits but they'll get away with it because all our Tigers are toothless!
I changed to LPG appx 2 years ago and I drive twice as far for the same money!

Taxes are not high enough to meet current spending.
result: more debt and deficit.
Put it in on the credit card. let the grandkids pay it off after they borrow a million to buy a house.

I find it outragious and obscene that I can drive a few kilometers from my home and see a difference of 25cents or more in the price of petrol at different service stations. The government tells us that this is okay as the oil companies are giving us "discounts". What utter crap - fuel is an essential service that we all need virtually on a daily basis so there is absolutely no need for anyone to "discount".
I also refuse to believe that ANYONE sells a single drop of fuel at a loss -Soooo... Australian motorists are being ripped off high, wide and handsome yet our lawmakers do NOTHING about it. Some time ago, I contacted the NSW petrol commissioner who was very apologetic and explained that he had only a "watching brief". He can report on prices to the government but has NO POWERS to do anything about them - what a waste of our tax dollars.

Hugo, and the government is doing nicely collecting
its GST and excise duty and these so and so's will come
cap in hand at the next election groveling for our vote.
Every general election there should be an assessment on
the overall competency of each elected member, now wouldn;t
that be an eye opener. :character-oldtimer:
