Extra two weeks

Post by mavisbramston » 28 Apr 2017, 22:09

We are about to move into a new house we bought. The current vendors lawyer has requested two more weeks after settlement. I know they are in a tricky situation as their new house is not finished. But thats not our fault. Ok I am not unsympathetic but this is a huge inconvenience for us. We now have to change so many things we had carefully organised. Movers, utilities not to mention the telstra night mare. The later involving intermidable waits being kept on hold with annoying accents which are hard to comprehend in the Philipines.
Dont get me started on bloody telstra!
The,se olks are making a request we find hard.
Can I demand compensation or even refuse? The real estate agent says its terrible what they are asking of us. Its certainly a damn nuisance.
We have always stayed in a hotel and put our stuff in storage while waiting.

It should be specified in the contract.

Put yourself first...... make some noise with your real estate people.
The buyer has the problem so make them the ones that have to be inconvenienced.

If you feel led to agree, you could demand costs of hotel and storage. If it's going to cost them that, they might as well pay for their own expenses of hotel and storage, and your schedule wouldn't be interrupted.
