Hello
Sit back relax
Forget your income tax

Wel if that's familiar to you we are about the same age. My name here payers tribute to what I believe was the greatest satire show on television. I think it might be a bit naughty today but greetings to everyone.

Welcome Mavis, just said 'hello' to you and slapsy in another post but that is fair enough or are you related?
I remember the show vaguely but my parents always turned off the sound and I still don't know what it was all about!

Glad you joined because if you liked that show, you'll like it here!

Thank you very much everyone. I know I picked a strange name but it sort of sums me up as a rather nostalgic old duck.

Every week the channel 7 switch board was jammed with complaints about the show. Often from the same people each week. It was addictive viewing and really pushed the margin. Nothing was safe they satirised everything even the church. It was also incredibly clever. I don't think anything came close to its brilliance.

So, the inevitable question Mavis, were you involved with the show or just fascinated?
Don't answer if you don't wish to, but we may send you to the Russian Front if you don't!

Not involved but my family were devoted fans. Mum was a very progressive lady and let me watch it. I doubt though I was laughing at the same things mum was. In later years I met a few cast members.
