Jacqui Lambie - podcast

Post by Hughie » 16 Aug 2018, 19:17

Sorry, haven't been around for a while - trying to keep my home-town's forum afloat with bookface taking its toll.

On my morning walk the other day I enjoyed listening this ABC podcast featuring an interview with the Australian character that is ex senator Jacqui Lambie. You may not like her but I found it entertaining and funny listening to her story.

:text-thankyou:
A good post, Hughie. We can understand her a lot better for it.

I did enjoy your The Leaving of Liverpool, too. I didn't know the lyrics, so went looking

The Leaving of Liverpool

Fare thee well to Prince's Landing Stage
River Mersey, fare thee well
I am bound for 'Californi'
It's a place that I know right-well

(Chorus)
So fare thee well, my own true love
And when I return, united we will be
It's not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me
But my darling, when I think of thee

I have signed on a Yankee Clipper ship
'Davy Crockett' is her name
And Burgess is the Captain of her
And they say she's a floating shame

(Chorus)
I have sailed with Burgess once before
He's a man I know right-well
If a man is a sailor, he can get along
And if nothin' he is sure in Hell

(Chorus)
Now the sun is on the harbour, love
And I wish I could remain
For I know it will be a long, long time
Before I see you again
(Here we go!)
I dream, therefore I am.

Thanks Hughie. Our Jacqui's a character alright but her hearts in the right place.
I liked her admittance that she wanted Clive's money.

That's a real rousing and yet quite poignant sea shanty isn't it. Nice blowing Hughie!

Thanks for the kind remarks, The harmonica as you know is a very portable instrument, so when visiting the grandkids it's in my pocket. :text-thankyou:
