Vale BOB HAWKE

Post by godfather » 16 May 2019, 23:40

I have tears running down my face for the sad loss of one of the greatest politicians and human beings in my life time.
The passing of Bob Hawke is a very unfortunate event, and sadly so close to the elections of a new Labor Government.
I am sure Bob would have loved to lead the celebrations on Saturday by downing a pint or two with all of the Labor faithfulls.

This man was like a refreshing tonic for Australia when elected in 1983 as our Prime Minister.
He became the most loved PM almost instantly and served our country well for 8 1/2 years.

There isn't going to be another Bob Hawke ever again, but his spirit, humanitarian qualities, political reforms and progressive thinking, as well as his wonderful sense of humour, will live on for many, many years to come.

Bob, if you are looking down, I will raise my glass to you tomorrow with very fond memories.

Rest in Peace!

Sincere condolences to all of the Hawke family.

I have just read an interesting article about Bob Hawke, he seemed a very popular Prime Minister.

RIP Bob Hawke.

His greatest asset was his skill at mediation. It served him well when he was ACTU leader and helped to make him an inclusive prime minister (something lacking in recent occupants of the role).

And he earthy non pc humour. He told great jokes.
One of his greatest assets was Hazel

I admired him on so many levels. After he divorced Hazel he remained a loyal friend.

A beautiful post Godfather.

My daughter and I said this morning that it feels like a grandad has just died.
Strange that.....

But Barry Cassidy on ABC last night made me go to bed a bit sadder.

RIP Bob Hawke

It is sad to hear of his passing but I rejoice that I lived through the Hawke years.
He was truly one of the greatest men to lead this country.

A politician and statesman of Bob's calibre makes the current lot seem pale and dull indeed.
