TV NOSTALGIA QUIZ

Post by mavisbramston » 28 Jun 2016, 18:32

No cheating!

What was the name of the TV comedy series about a couple with three children? Only difference was the three children were chimps. The chimps were the Marquis chimps that toured Australia with the MaxBygraves show at the Tivoli. It starred Jack Weston and Peggy Cass.

It was called THE HATHAWAYS. You can even see an episode on you tube. Looks awful now and we sadly presume the chimps were probably abused. Thanks for your interest. Ok heres another.
It starred Broadway actress Shirly Booth. She played a maid. In those days they seemed to want us to believe every American family had a live in maid. What was this hit comedy series called?

THanksfor your interst though.

The show was called HAZEL. I loved it but today it looks a bit dubious.

What about this one?

This show starred Robert Young. He was the father and it was a very patriarchal family. Mother was played by Jane Wyatt and the two kids were named Princess and Bud. It had a very long run starting in 1954 on television. It was also on radio in America.

One more.

She was Australas top comedienne. She compered a Sautuday night tv show which was called The Penthouse Club which was a combination of variet and believe it or not trotting. A great talent much loved in Melbourne. Died by suicide . Her death was front page news. The common people loved her.

I agree Lynny. Love your contributions.
I think theres a member who does not make newbies very welcome and gets an odd pleasure territorially putting newbies down so I moved away back to general forums. I avoid conflict. lol.

I don't mind new players as long as they don't try to take over
