I think of that strange wanderer
Who became an awful squanderer
He stole from the rich
Woke up in a ditch

Maybe......

I think of that strange wanderer
Who became an awful squanderer
He stole from the rich
Woke up in a ditch
No stars or moon for this ponderer

That limmerick was total crap. Lets all revise that metre rule. YES i am blaming myself.
Also I think limmericks need to be funny.

Here's a limerick that Maggs wrote years ago to explain it.....

The Limerick meter is steady - (9 syllables)
The writer should always be ready ( 9 Syllables)
To choose words that rhyme( 5 syllables)
and do it in time ( 5 Syllables)
for punchlines that will amuse Teddy! ( 9 Syllables.)

Clever isnt she! :icon_biggrin:

So.......back to it.....

Thx for that. Our limmericks will never improve if we are precious about feedback or critiCism. If I go wrong sock it to me. I never mind criticism. I do have a few seniormoments but ifyou can putup with me these limericks help me concentrate.
Apart from metre I think the limericks should be funny and often a bit naughty. Its not classical poetry.
Thanks for the feed back.
