The Opera House

Post by lynny » 10 Oct 2018, 11:55

So, what do we think about advertising a horse race on The Opera House?

As it's a centre for the arts I've seen it look stunning when lit up - but for a horse race? I suppose it did the job because love it or hate it everyone now knows about it. What do you think?

Feel free to comment/rant on Alan Jones and our PM's comments...... :icon-mrgreen:

The white sails at night look spectacular.
As I had a carreer in the performing arts I see it as disrespectful to the arts.
Its very very pleb.
Its Jones as always demonstrating what a slob and artless creep he is.
If you saw his pathetic cameo in the other wise brilliant production of ANNIE we all know he is useless.
This opera house is a home to culture theatre opera art.

The whole episode is disgraceful. Jones bullying a woman who was only doing her job; Gladys obeying her paymasters; Foley likewise; and the desecration of a world-famous, heritage-listed landmark; all in the name of rank commercialism.

The LNP receives more than $600K from the Racing mob, and Labor over $400K. No wonder they dance to Jones's tune.

I'm delighted so many turned up to protest and disrupt the showing. We need more of that kind of outrage.

I wonder how successful Tuesday night would have been without the Jones interview beforehand. Would most people even realise that this particular race is on this coming Saturday? How many of you will even remember this episode when the next election rolls around?
They had to do something to get people talking. Looks as if they were successful,eh.
The punters know that the horse called Morality rarely gets past the post, whereas the nag called Self-interest always runs a good race. ..... Gough Whitlam 19/10/89

I don't think it was deliberate (it didn't leave Gladys looking too good), but it certainly drew attention to the race.
