Vale Barbara Cook

Post by mavisbramston » 12 Aug 2017, 17:58

Farewell to my favourite star. She was a huge hit when she did her concerts in Australia. Amazing because unless you were a fan of musicals not many Aussies had heard of her. Well thats what they thought and the managers put her on in the intimate but charming Myer mural hall. It was totaly booked out. I was lucky I got my seats early.
It seems many more people knew Barbara than they predicted.
The next tour was the concert hall. You guessed it. It was booked out every night.
There were few voices better even as she got older. But it was the way she communicated the story of the song that made her unique. There will never be another like her

Heres an example of this great lady's work. Few singers will ever express the lyric so beautifully.

I am not the greatest fan of musicals but I do admit that her diction was something amazing.
Farewell to a lovely lady and a great musician.
