With all due respect to the people involved in this hard work and detailed art, this is not traditional Persian binding, it s modern bookbinding, casework to be more precise, done by hand bookbinders. That is, a very, very new technique. The traditional methods I believe are only done today by restorers and conservators. A modern binder would say he was taught this method by his master, who was taught by his master who was taught by his master and it would seem quite a long lineage, but it would be in reality no longer than 60-80 years. Check out the work Sherif Afifi does when it comes to traditional styles.
