Poor House Soup

Post by Hughie » 19 Dec 2017, 13:41

Quoting from Tom Shield's Diary, a regular column in The Glasgow Herald newspaper.

Dr Gage, the Kilwinning doctor in the latter half of last century, happened to be called to the local poor house where one old lady complained about the quality of the soup. "It's no' biled right. Try this," she said, producing from her pocket a pea. The doctor duly popped it into his mouth and agreed that it was rock hard. "Weel doactor, that's exactly how it came through me
this morning." The lady informed him.
