Some improvement! :icon_biggrin:
An update for Windows 10 came through, and gave me the option of letting the web fix my problems. Now I can get into account.live.com. Not OneDrive. As I don't know if I want to go there or not, I'll just see if the notices have eased off - so far I think they have . Thank you Perry for your sage advice, and sorry I'm a scaredy cat!

Hello ************,
To continue sending messages, please sign in and validate your Outlook.com account.
This helps us stop automated programs from sending junk email.
Thanks for your help and patience!
The Outlook.com Team
So I thought that perhaps I should do that. It seems that Outlook would virtually take over my gmail account. As I proceeded I got this message -
Sign in with Google
Microsoft apps & services wants to access your Google Account

**********@gmail.com
This will allow Microsoft apps & services to:

Read, compose, send and permanently delete all your email from Gmail

See, edit, create and delete all of your Google Drive files

See, edit, download and permanently delete your contacts

See, edit, share and permanently delete all the calendars that you can access using Google Calendar

View your complete date of birth
Make sure that you trust Microsoft apps & services
You may be sharing sensitive info with this site or app. Find out how Microsoft apps & services will handle your data by reviewing its privacy policies. You can always see or remove access in your Google Account.
Find out about the risks
So it appears I have a choice to not proceed, so I haven't! 8-[

Microsoft is after your Gmail account? If you haven't asked Microsoft to do that, they shouldn't try to poach.

Do you know your Outlook.com login and password? If so, log in and ignore the request to log in to gmail.com.

I don't know why I would want to sign in to Outlook. The only reason I think all of this happened (and it's taken me a while to wake up) is that not long ago I replied to a question on a site, (or it may have been petition/campaign related,) and the answer I thought went by their own email, but they did ask my email address, so I then presumed there was some technology involved to do this, and never thought any more of it.

Yes, I use only Gmail now. Although I believe I still have a Dodo email address, it is years since I used it
