Driver Update

Post by Teddy »

Perri does Driver Update serve any purpose, as it has appeared on my PC?

If it's appeared on your PC, it's malware, specifically a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program). That one can be difficult to remove. I presume you're running an anti-virus program, but PUPs often go undetected. The chances are you've installed some software recently and it was silently installed then.

Check your anti-virus to see if it cleans out PUPs. If so, run it now.

Please let me know how you get on.

No Perri I haven't installed anything. When I deleted this Driver Update a message appeared stating deleted wouldn't make them disappear.(I was trying all sorts of things, including an extra virus scan, even though I do a complete scan every morning before I do anything on the computer)the last try, I was told Driver Update could be uninstalled ? !!!! . With someone as clueless as I with P C's,I haven't even tried or how to go about doing this Perri, thank you for your advice.

What anti-virus program are you running?
What version of Windows do you have?

If you can provide answers to those two questions, I'll try to help you.

From the Start menu, please go to the Control Panel and click Uninstall a program. See if there's a program called Driver Update (it may say Plus or something after it). If so, uninstall it.

Perri, the Driver Update has ben removed, using Revo Uninstaller Free ! I didn't do it, but managed to find a Computer "Fixerupper" who just happened to be in this area(miles from anywhere!) which is very unusual & between his appointments would call in.He,agrees with you Perri ,DriverUpdate can be very difficult to remove! Thank you again Perri for your kind helpfulness, which is much appreciated. :icon_biggrin:

You're more than welcome. Revo Uninstaller is a very good program. I've been using it for years.

My daughter fell for this one
Once you click on icon (from memory hypo link to web page) it scans your computer and tells you have all these things wrong
To get rid of them you ring this number
You then give them permission to take control of your computer
After all these scans they do (including C Cleaner) you are billed for service

You can see every movement they do on your PC even going into your personnel docs etc
Sometimes I wake up grumpy
Other times I let her sleep

Sorry to hear that. It'll make her more cautious in future, but she shouldn't be preyed on by these criminals.
