Jeeves

Post by mavisbramston »

Who remembers Ask Jeeves.
Jeepers I must be getting old . Jeeves seems ancient but I was alive before Jeeves even appeared.
Anyone recall any other computer nostalgia?
Floppy discs?
We had a kind of tennis or ping pong game. We thought it was so high tech.

That game was called Pong.

I started programming in 1965, so I have many memories of those early years.

Does that mean it's still a 'thing'? :icon_biggrin:

Interesting that in 'Favourite destinations', the first one is 'Ask Jeeves for kids' ! :eek

It became Ask.com and insinuated itself into browser search bars without asking, to everyone's annoyance.

Alta Vista was another search engine that was popular back then. When Google became ascendent, it was taken over by Yahoo!, who redirected its queries to its own search engine, before eventually shutting it down.
