What do you think.

Should we leave Afghanistan?
I feel sorry for the people being thrown to the Taliban.
I think it makes a mockery of the promise to the Afghan people that “We (America) will not desert you”.

We, as in Australia, cannot stay there on our own. That is the nub of it.

Afghanistan has seen off the British, the Russians and now the Americans.
IMO they must be left to sort themselves out and yes, it will be bloody.

I personally could support neither the Taliban nor the Afghanistan government, but I think U.S and its allies have done enough harm there, no matter how good our intentions. Better to pass on the problem to other international parties.
Five countries have played a critical role supporting talks between the Taliban and a government-back delegation—Germany, Norway, Qatar, Indonesia, and Uzbekistan, collectively known as the “quint.” Qatar, the seat of the Taliban’s political office, hosted the first round of the intra-Afghan negotiations that began on September 12.

Apparently, we're not giving the Afghans who helped our troops priority immigration status. They've been told to join the "queue".

The people, who are supposed to know, worry about young Australian muslims becoming radicalised and joining terrorist groups. This is as good a reason as any to cause them to do that. Whoever has made this decision is absolutely heartless.
Let the Afghans live as they wish. They have lived with conflict for centuries.

I think it is time to get out of Afghanistan. Twenty years and what has been accomplished?. How many have fallen, to what end? This twenty years
was an over reaction to our loss when the towers fell. And still wondering if we gt the right enemy.

WE should never have gone into Afghanistan in the first place. It was America's war and we had no real reason to join in, other than to reinforce our status as the US's "deputy sherrif". Where was the US when we had to go into east Timor and clean up the mess left by Indonesia?

I agree @Kfchugo, We expect help from our friends but are seldom there when friends need help.

Twenty years and we can't beat a small enemy. Do we not know when to quit or are we more powerless than some of us thought. That should tell our larger enemies something. China is no pushover like Viet Nam and Alfghanistan where we tried our darnest weave or will. Somebody kept cutting the yarn.

Are was it truly a war for money. Did we get all those young men killed so someone could make a buck? Come a day, come a day, help me somebody.

Of course we here in the U.S. been accused of that before. Is this a case of "where there's smoke there's fire?"

I've copied that thread to read later.
