Whilst one cannot argue with a High Court decision, to my mind, the real problem here is actually the constitution and in this area at least, it is in dire need of an overhaul. The obvious intent is that nobody should be elected to serve in our government if they have an allegiance to a foreign power. I believe that most (if not all) of those disqualified were unaware of their dual citizenship and once known, would have renounced it. This has been a monumental waste of time, effort, money and a huge upheaval in some peoples lives........and to what end? What has been accomplished? Are Australians now suddenly saved from the insidious tentacles of foreign governments? - dont make me laugh!
Yet again we have an example of politics and politicians costing Aussie taxpayers a motza......for zero result. When will we ever learn. :hitting_wall

Larissa Waters and the brilliant Scot Ludlam are the only true losses as far as talent is concerned. Interestingly they are the only ones who acted in a noble manner.
Barnaby Joyce is harder to remove than an anal wart. We all know the idiot will be back.
Wish the idiotic Canavan would have gone.
Malcom Roberts is looking for a job that uses the word empiracle a lot.

I realise that he is a conservative, and different rules will apply, but shouldn't a condition for Baaarnaby, standing for re-election in the bi-election,be the repayment of any money paid during the time he was illegally elected?

Still thinking about the real benefits this whole mess has given us.
Was there any at all?
BJ will be back and that is not a good outcome for anyone.
The LNP is ONE short as it stands, but that isn't of any great comfort just now.
Little "One Nation" Roberts is going into State politics.
What are the benefits for Australia?

Not sittings on the edge, but believe.........nothing has changed!

It's made Turnbull look a goose again. He was so confident the High Court would rule in his favour. Nor did he ask anyone to stand down. Canavan volunteered and yet was the only one to survive.
