How do you reconcile "non-violent resistance to war" with vandalising a cross at Toowong Cemetery? Isn't vandalism violence? Apart from reminding us of Pine Gap's existence (which makes Australia a target in the event of a serious conflict), their protest achieved nothing.

I am surprised to learn that these men, calling themselves Peace Pilgrims , were primarily of the Catholic Worker movement, two being sons of the founder of the Australian branch. They are the same people who vandalised the war memorial at Toowong in the name of Catholic Workers, and were described as radical.
ON Ash Wednesday, a radical group of Brisbane Christian activists took extraordinary action.
Members of the Catholic Worker movement allegedly attacked the Cross of Sacrifice, which has stood in Brisbane’s Toowong Cemetery since 1924.
A spokesman for the Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane said the Catholic Workers were a “group of lay people” with no ties to the archdiocese.
“The archdiocese supports any police investigation into this matter,” he said.
'Peace Pilgrims', I think, refers to 'Friends of Peace Pilgrim.'
From 1953 until 1981, a silver haired woman calling herself only "Peace Pilgrim" walked more than 25,000 miles on a personal pilgrimage for peace. Wearing a blue tunic and carrying just a comb and toothbrush, she shared her simple but profound message in thousands of communities throughout the U.S.: when enough of us find inner peace, our institutions will become peaceful and there will be no more occasion for war. Today, her words – captured in books, videos and other media – continue to inspire people around the world.

There are many other peace activist organisations. You will find Jo Valentine's name here - ... nd-groups/
