Cheating at cricket

Post by Warrigal » 25 Mar 2018, 19:14

Sack the lot and send in the Australia A team

From Twitter
Cannot recall a more devastating sporting scandal than what’s unfolding today. Australians despise cheats, and we’d rather lose with dignity than win dishonestly. They don’t seem smart enough to understand the damage they’ve caused to our wonderful cricketing heritage. Go now.
I agree with Fr Rod.

Couldn't agree more Warrigal. Dutton must be cheering, having a diversion like this.

However, this scandal is shameful, and embarrassing, for anybody with any connection,at any level, with Australian cricket.

Is it so important to win that they will stoop to this they have done
this nation irreparable damage and its a question whether we will ever
have any credibility again.

They deserve all the ridicule and humiliation coming their way.

As someone commented on Twitter, didn't his mother tell him not to scratch his balls in public?

It is a sad day indeed for all Australians......not just cricket and not even sport in general - ALL of us. We are a sporting nation with a proud heritage of sportsmanship, mateship and fair play. We have long held our heads high in the world and have been quick to criticise other nations for failing to meet our standards.
The good news is that this will pass - we have been given a "black eye" but I am certain that our well earned reputation in the world will be quickly restored and the blame centred where it belongs - a small group of big-heads who thought they were above the rules and felt a need to win at any cost. Only now are they beginning to see the full ramifications and cost of their stupidity.

What the hell were they thinking? Those TV cameras are watching every move.

Having said that I don't really give a rat's ar*e about cricket, or any other sport for that matter, and I'm beginning to suspect I'm not Robinson Crusoe either.

I agree with Warrigal (and Fr Rod Bower), more important things to get outraged about.

Like many other Australians, they don't think, and are not models of integrity

Rest assured you are not Robinson Crusoe.

Sadly so very many things, yes.

I posted a slightly different take on this and now I think I should have posted here. Sorry
I cant really disagree with anyone here but I think we need a bit of forgiveness. Funny the atheist is preaching the very thing Christains used to preach. Not any more it seems.

Last night's press conferences reminded me of a pack of rabid dogs. Where have they been during all the recent political scandals,or is it only Sam who can draw a crowd?

Given the amount of cheating in business and politics and how the perpetrators get away with it most of the time, even when caught, it's difficult not to see this punishment as harsh and disproportionate.

Also, whats with the 'sledging'? isn't that bullying?
Do tennis players give constant abuse to their opponent?
Do golfers?
Lawnbowlers?

Ok footballers are bordeline pyschotic maggots just escaped from prison/mental hospital,
But from the 'genteel' sports we expect high standards. :character-oldtimer: :character-oldtimer:

Breach of contract somewhere in the fine print?

That's how they've lost their contracts with the Indian Premier League.
