ARGH just got a letter from my health fund on the costs of a month
in the hospital and the three operations, strewth that stood my
hair on end. :icon-mrgreen:
Yeah.... sometimes I question whether it's worth being in a fund.
The bloody mongrel surgeons don't seem to know what the "scheduled fee" is, so they charge far worse than any bull.

Example 1. my wifes knee replacement.... I had to pay a "gap of $6,700 to the surgeon above what the Health Insurance paid.

Example 2. my wifes hip replacement...... this was a bargain, just a gap of $4,900 to the surgeon above what the Health Insurance paid.
..... and I'm paying around $480 per month for private health insurance ?

Seriously, I'm on the brink of bailing out of the private health cover. My neighbour has no private cover and his surgeries have cost him nil. :hhuuuhhhh

Terra, my out of pocket fees amounted to a grand it cost my health fund close
to 80 grand for the hospital stay and surgeons plus the use of three theaters
I had three procedures after all the scans, that is how I ended up in hospital
for a month.
Which health fund are you with Terra.?

Sir Duke !.... good to hear your voice again on the forum.
..I wuz getting a tad worried about you !

Glad that you've came through this terrible ordeal and I'm longing to get you back into the slanging here 'cos it's been a bit quiet.

regarding my health fund, it's "Defence Health" and I'm in their top cover.
But, the problem is the specialist surgeons in my neck o the woods. Because I'm not in Sydney, the specialist surgeons here are very few, and for that reason, not much competition for them so they bloody well charge what they like.... Bastards !

It sounds as though you're making a slow but steady recovery GD. It's good to see you popping in again. :icon_biggrin:
