A FLUID SITUATION ...REALLY?

Post by Mahalia » 13 Aug 2018, 14:49

Written in response to comments by Malcolm Turnbull at Trangie NSW - “This drought is not without precedent. Let me stress that. We are, as we have all said, the land of droughts and flooding rains. The fact we are back here shows this is a fluid situation. ”

A FLUID SITUATION ...REALLY? ...Maureen Clifford ©

Well the droughts and flooding rains and bushfires are here again
being fluid they just don't appear together.
And our country she is rough and Mother Nature bloody tough
the main conversation topic is the weather.
We can't change it - this is true - but fair dinkum blokes (are you)
know that Aussies cross this land must band together,
and spill out a little moolah from the top to Aratula
to help our farmers to survive our harshest weather...

It's as dry as chips down here, and the future's looking drear
with no rain to view in climate oscillation.
All the weathermen look sad for the predictions are bad
for our island girt by sea - our Aussie nation.
There is hay now on the move from Tasmania and Perth,
Aussie truckies moving fodder through our land.
Whilst the drought moves us to tears and we battle with our fears,
this is Aussies helping Aussies and it's grand.

True blue Aussies have dug deep, they have splashed the cash and keep
on doing so - and supermarket stores
have shared some of the profits, Bunnings staff are cooking sausage
and clubs and pubs and Mother's groups and more
are running fetes and stalls. The Parmy eaters are enthralled
and the dollars keep on rolling in each week.
Of course our Pollies could do more and if they did perhaps they'd draw
an extra vote or two, and ain't that what they seek?

So loosen up the purse strings of our nation - Help a farmer,
cut out the crap and reams of paperwork.
Just get the aid out faster for no man is man's master
and I've never known a farmer yet to shirk .
If there's food on your table, enjoy it whilst you're still able
for tomorrow God alone knows where your feed
will be coming from my friend if this bloody drought don't end
in this sunburnt country - wide brown land indeed.
