China takes too many FISH!

Post by Trishia » 01 Oct 2018, 08:46

China is taking more than it's share of the Earths FISH. They are encroaching on other countries fish supplies. Who do these people think they are ????
I can see great problems with this whole charade in the near future.

Who remembers the cod war? This time it could be a lot worse.

I remember the Cod War. Britain didn't come out of it too well.

In economics, exploiting shared resources is called "the tragedy of the commons" and refers to the common grazing area used by various farmers. When they share equitably, there are no problems, but when one adds extra livestock to graze, he depletes the land available for the rest. It's as prevalent today as it's ever been, and getting a lot worse. We've lost sight of working for the common good, and Trump is intent on removing the US from all international agreements that constrain its commercial operations. We're doomed all right.

Remember the days of the 'fair go'.
It existed once in Australia, and possibly in some other parts of the world.
It has been totally surpassed by self interest.
Fishing is just one way that China is expanding itself.
Loans and other help to Pacific island nations and parts of Africa is another way, to establish influence, and then abusing it.
Expanding in the South China sea is another.
As Perrorist suggests, the future is not bright.

I only eat fresh water fish my bil catches and drops off to us. We used to buy fish with a New Zealand label but heard on the news the fish was Chinese fish sent to NZ and relabeled because sales of Chinese fish sales to this country had nosed dived. Now and four the past eight years we hardly eat fish and only fresh water fish. I think, too, as has been stated China will is going to be more of dominate world power and will expand themselves wherever it is to their advantage.

We had problems with fish labelling a year or two back. Nile perch, I think, was being sold as barramundi.
