Eyes and brain

Post by Dreamweaver »

My vision has rapidly deteriorated. I can see only part of any line of text. The optometrist tells me my eyes are great for my age, the problem is the brain, which is not receiving all the signals from the eyes. This could be due to a stroke, though nothing like the previous stroke I had, none of those symptoms, so three days passed before I got my appointment. If I had gone on day 1 it would have been off to emergency for immediate treatment, but the damage is now probably permanent. Just waiting on the gp reaction to a fax the optomestrist sent her.

As I don't know what's ahead, if you see me less often it's because reading and typing are a struggle, not because I wish to contriubute less. Love you all. :icon_biggrin:

I wish you a favourable outcome to your likely visit to a specialist. I also hope your condition doesn't get any worse.

:text-thankyou:
I haven't heard back from gp yet, so there is no longer a rush for anything. Feeling doubtful about the suggested stroke diagnosis, I wondered about gradual damage. I learned
Vision Problems: Depending on the location and severity of a brain aneurysm, it is possible for patients to experience double or peripheral vision problems.

So be warned that any such problems need immediate treatment!

Getting immediate treatment for anything these days is a problem - sending you hugs Dreamy and best wishes for a favourable outcome. :happy-sunshine:

Failure to recognise it was a stroke and the resultant delay in treatment have led to permanent damage to the brain's sight receptors, but apart from focused vision such as in reading (on screen or hard copy,) I can adjust fairly easily, as a slight shift of the head brings missing patches into view. Typing can be slow, but not as bad as reading. Nothing is disastrous, and life in general isn't much affected. :happy-sunshine:

Let's hope your eyesight doesn't deteriorate further, and I'm pleased to hear that you have adapted to it without too much inconvenience.

I hope things get better for you DW.
I am also having trouble getting to my Dr. for a problem that could be serious. I will be able to see him next Wednesday.
